#17 Nightmare On Little Elm Street

Well actually it was more like a nightmare for Little Elm on South Harrison Street. On October 29th, 1993 we played the Little Elm Lobos at home in Massey Stadium. The Lobos certainly didn’t have Cole Beasley on their team or anyone even close to being as good as the Bease. Little Elm wasn’t a very good team back then and we took care of business against them. The main thing I remember from this game was that the wind was blowing very hard and it was freezing cold. It was another solid performance by our defense. Building on our performance from a week earlier, where we didn’t allow a single first down to S&S, we only allowed 1 first down and 47 total yards to Little Elm.

So that brought our record up to 9-0 on the season. The soft spot in our schedule was over though and we quickly turned our attention to the Celina Bobcats. We had already secured our spot in the playoffs, but we had 1 important district game left to try and secure our 15th consecutive district title. We knew we would have a tough week of preparation in front of us for a tough football game the next Friday night. We knew Celina would treat the game as their “Super Bowl.” It was a lot of pressure on 16-18 year old high school kids, but we embraced it. Remember…we were the Cardiac Cats!
